Unpacking my luggage from my trip to „Paris of the East“, this is what I got:
– the best Lecso recipe
– a newly afired love for cakes with loads of butter, sugar and sweet chestnut cream and
– my new favourite knit cardigan, kimono-style- made of recycled cotton, color flash jewelry as well as a knit blanket with matching pillow case:
Those who- at 35° celsius- cannot pass by a shopwindow full of knit, are either sun-struck or simply fell for ESZKA ’s charms
Nice patterns, great color combinations and the agony of choice…
Color? I made my decision and say: Black and White. The color accents will be added with the jewelry 🙂
This cardigan was a rare find for me, a soon-to-be favourite wardrobe item, as one does not come across to a piece like this every day.
I am super stoked about the Y-pattern I decided for. The cut is long and it has a kimono style collar with a wide tape on top as an extra detail. You could even wear it as a reversible jacket, if you don’t mind the whipped seams on the arm holes (that are found a lot currently as a design element on many styles): White/ Black or Black/ White, your choice.
Finally the best of all: It is made of 100% recycled cotton and made in Hungary.
Designer Kriszta, an inspiration board and a snapshot from the knit production room:
Many convincing points for me for a purchase. And yet another pro, or should I say a con ;-): The oversize cut makes it a unisex piece, so beware, that your male friends don’t steal it from your closet:
As I was also looking for a birthday gift and a couple of souvenirs, I was happy to find even more stuff I liked at ESZKA:
The knit blanket/ pillow case combo is available in a myriad of colors, not only in black and white ;-):
And on top there was this lovely jewelry: Upcycled from all kinds of remnants and interesting materials by the artist and graphic designer Eszter Korcsmár and all that in sweetest color combinations:
Jewelry from her label ARTKORES can be ordered on her Facebook-Page
YOU PREFER A LESS PLAYFUL STYLE? DELICATE CONCRETE IN ALL KINDS OF SHAPES AND COLORS COULD BE THE ALTERNATIVE
Those who like it less playful than ARTKORES, should find somthing they like at this Hungarian Label: bijouxbeton makes earrings, bracelets and necklaces out of concrete, surprisingly filigree and with an excellent feel for color. You get the handmade, locally produced precious items at the shop „EMILY“ in Budapest or online at Etsy.
So just as much as you mustn’t miss the amazing cake shops (a hint on the side, this gem is located in the same neighborhood as ESZKA : „THE SWEET“), you shouldn’t miss the designs from ESZKA, ARTKORES und BIJOUXBETON if you are a conscious fashionista.
There is this quality seal „MAGYAR TERMÉK = MADE IN HUNGARY“, that stands for high quality local products and that can be found on a lot of agricultural produce here.
I could definitely picture a similar seal on design products as well to point out where it was created and where it was manufactured.
